In 1921, after years of working abroad, Jože Plečnik returned to his home city of Ljubljana. Together with his students and supporters, he embarked on building a unique urban and architectural world, which over the decades grew into a global phenomenon known as Plečnik’s Ljubljana. Plečnik transformed the city at the pedestrian scale, such that today we recognise his legacy of urban interventions as a way of designing a different, more sustainable, and humane city.
